Striple R on the track

Wondering what experiences folks have had. Would love to see pics of track ready mods, as I will have to sell my Daytona and the Striple will truly be my all purpose bike.

For track days I remove my lights, passenger foot pegs, license plate, indicators, mirrors (I have a bolt with the same thread to hold the brake reservoir), rear light bulb and anything else I can sell on eBay if I total the bike.



37T or 39T rear sprocket depending on how im feeling and a GoPro with plenty of different mounts. Tyre pressures are set at whatever the tyre people on track suggest, then throughout the day I adjust suspension depending on the sort of damage/wear/tearing etc I see on the tyres (normal settings rather than sport are a good starting point). I've just added some clipons but I've yet to test them on a track. A set of brake pads for road use might last you half a day depending on the track, next track day ill be buying myself some cheapo Goldfren ceramic carbon ones from eBay (I know a few GSXR riders who swear by them).

That and I change the oil and filter for the track, then once I'm done playing I put new oil and a new filter. Radiator fluid gets changed for one suitable for racing (so I don't leave a dangerous spill on the track if I bin it), and the only thing I bother to wire shut is the oil filler cap.

do you have a close-up of the light area with them removed? I have been slowly prepping for my first track day, had not thought of just removing the lights, any wiring concerns?

That seat is sweet, and they make some really nice stuff, but shipping to the states is really really high, almost doubles the cost of the seat!

I get rid of the license plate, the mirrors and will get clipons for next season so I can achieve a better riding position. I don't have the passenger pegs. Got the gb racing protection kit to possibly help in case of an off. Make sure I have good tires and more importantly, tires that I trust for the track day, for me, the psychological aspect is important. I'd rather not be worrying about whether or not my tires are good enough. And gopro mount on the radioator cowl and a clamp on the handlebar. Recently made an adapter to go on the license plate adapter, have to try it out next track day (2013)

Me - "I'm gonna buy a new bike"
The Mrs - "moan moan moan moan moan"
Me - "ok you can have breast implants THEN I'm buying a new bike"

As the Mrs would look weird with 4 implants, I don't think I'll ever be allowed a dedicated track bike. Then again, she is letting me send my youngest daughter to race school when she turns 4

Fly screen really helps, finding a quality helmet that doesn't suffer from too much buffeting also helps but the main one is as long as you lean forward everything is ok and you can carry on telling your sportbike friends that real men don't need fairings

I'm sure I have a close up somewhere. As for the wiring just tape it up out of the way somewhere. If you take the license plate and the bracket thing holding it off the bike, when you disconnect one of the sensors (barometric one) at the back you'll get a warning light showing up on your clocks

I plan to just un-plug the rear lights as removing the c.w. tail tidy is a pain, and I can get fingers on the plugs without removing anything.

I have a bestem cf flyscreen on the way, as it was cheaper than the triumph one.

I used to do all sorts of prep. I quickly realized I was spending way more time getting ready for the track than I was spending on the track, so I got a dedicated track bike.

I still take the Striple out every so often for fun....just tape up the lights and go:
