Arai dropping the Long Oval?

I just read a report on the Arai Signet-Q, which replaced the Profile in their helmet line. Turns out the replacement is wider to help accomodate more head shapes?!? ***? Three distinct, different shaped helmets is what made Arai a better helmet manufacturer! I ride with a Profile BECAUSE it is the ONLY helmet that actually FITS my head shape!

The ONLY good news...I was able to order a new Arai Profile at 45% off. I shouldn't have to worry about finding a new helmet that fits right for another 3-5 years. Maybe Arai will realize there were actually some people who needed that long and narrow helmet and bring it back before then...

I have the Quantum II. Round oval head shape which they dont make anymore in their line. All intermediate oval or long oval.

So you feel my pain? webbikeworld reviews stated that both the new long oval (Signet-Q) and intermediate oval (RX-Q) have been widened to accomodate those with larger heads.

http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motor...arai-signet-q/
"The blade-like original Long Oval internal shape has now been made broader at the top and wider at the sides, while the intermediate oval is now round enough that Arai apparently felt comfortable in eliminating the Quantum II from the lineup and steering round-heads to the RX-Q."

I am a minority in the world of head shape and size...yes, I have a tiny, narrow head...and now no helmet will be produced to fit me.

I'm picking up what you're putting down here, man. Put your thumb in front of you and turn it so the pad is facing over your right or left shoulder. Now pull it to your chest and look down at the top. That's what my noggin is shaped like. I always thought I was supposed to be a fish but I can't breathe underwater. I tried. Took me a while to find a helmet that fit me well without me having to pay five gazillion dollars for one.

That's a shame. I bought the Profile for just that reason after trying on a whole lot of helmets.

That's weird, I thought the new Signet was supposed to be more long oval than the Profile. I'm in the same boat. I had the original Signet that I wore for years and had to switch to the Profile.

Had a couple of those but after constantly having their crappy visor mechanism break whenever changing out the visor I finally got so fed up w/u spending money to "fix" their $600 helmets I swore I'd never buy another Arai. At least until they get someone with an IQ to redesign their visor mechanism.

I've since learned that there are other options. I now have a Shark Carbon helmet that feels like half the weight of the Profile and has a push-button visor lock (genius!) and a Vemar Metha helmet that is very high-end and comfortable. There are some long oval helmets out there, just have to do a little searching.
