Question Anyone had this happen?

Just got back from a couple hour ride through the country when i noticed something hanging off my 1 month, 700km old 2012 triumph street triple r. The horn was dangling from its wires, swinging in the wind. Not sure on the build quality of Triumph bikes or maybe my bike was just made on a friday. dealer is going to reinstall it free and im working on getting my first service thrown in on the house for my aggrivation. *grumble*

Sounds as though the dealer didn't do much of a pre-delivery check and set up.

+12 or so. Do yourself a favor and go over your bike yourself. I discovered that my shift linkage was loose.

My horn was loose when new...i tightened it. The plastic thing on the swingarm that the chain runs on was loose and I tightened it. I don't depend on others to make sure my machine is in good working order. but that's just me.

Guess it was silly of my to expect something that cost 12k to have tightened fasteners.

It's a machine built by human beings that you are relying on to keep you alive ....

I would suggest you follow the advise and go over it yourself now and on a regular basis then get in the habit of doing a proper pre-ride check.

I worked in an automotive assembly plant for 28 years where they built $130,000 vehicles. Anything can happen regardless of price. I expect things to be just right but still am not surprised if they are not.

I had my right rear turn signal and front right turn signal mount crack around the mounting bolt. I talked to the dealer and they are going to replace them next Saturday. I took it to work this morning, and upon my after ride inspection, noticed that the LEFT front mount is now cracked, was not there during "pre flight". I think someone went a little happy with a torque wrench, or didn't use one at all. Now I only have ONE good one and am hoping they just replace ALL of them.

When I was up at the dealer, I showed him on another 2012 R where it was, and I noticed that, while on my bike the bolt is an Allen head, the ones up there were Phillips head.

Other than that, everything is going smooth. Except decelerating..quite twitchy that. Or rather ME, lol

Looks like that if one of your blinkers would have instead been loose, the experts would have tightened that one and not bothered to check if the others were also loose.

Kennungesser: I had the same blinker issue, rear left was hanging by the wire and front right cracked after 30 miles. They replaced both and I retorqued the others. I think thats just a shoddy blinker design.
