Question Ram mount inside top nut of triple tree?

I saw a video on youtube a while back of a French guy selling his street triple and going over his mods. One of them was a ram mount that he had installed in the hole at the top of the triple tree, inside the hex nut at the center of the handlebars (forgive me if there is a technical term for this and I just don't know it).

I wish I had bookmarked that video so I could ask him directly (assuming he would respond).

Does anyone have any idea where I can get a similar ram mount? I think that is probably an ideal location for a GPS.

I've seen this one, sounds like it might be what you're looking for?

I have one and it while it is secure it doesn't lock down super tight and with little effort it still rotates which is annoying.

That was a concern of mine, although I'd doubt it will come loose. I have thought about removing the rubber expansion plug and welding a threaded rod to the end so that it would extend through the bottom of the stem tube. Then a locknut/washer could secure it more tightly.

I use two of these - SW-Motech RAM Balls - mounted in place of the two lower handlebar clamps. It puts the devices in the same general area and the mounting is solid.

Yes, this is exactly what he had... it doesn't look like the Telferizer (or is it?). It leaves a bit more space to view instruments by jutting out a bit toward the tank. I don't see an order page... anyone have experience contacting the manufacturer?

The components in my photos are all RAM mount stuff, I purchased from gpscity.com.

RAM-HOL-GA35U RAM Nuvi 1490T Series Cradle
RAP-B-238U RAM Diamond mini plate w/1" ball
RAM-B-201U-A RAM alum 1.75" short dual socket arm
RAM-B-342U RAM Fork Stem Base w/1" ball

Depending on what device you are using, you might need a different cradle.

You might check around on the Sprint forum, there might be some folks there using it. (I think that's where I heard of it a while back, and why it came to mind when I saw your original post.)
