turning circle

So, how come none of you ever seem to mention how bad the turning circle is on this 'bike?? I have to do a turn around every day in a space narrower than 2.5 metres, and I have had to increase by around 40% the number of manoeuvres necessary to achieve this, compared to my previous bike (Kawa ER6f). I remember discussing this with the garage when I test rode the standard Striple last year - but forgot to ask him to the needful before riding away with my R. Another garage owner felt that changing the degree of turn amounted to a dangerous intervention - but I will certainly be discussing that when I go in for the 1000km service.

At least I'm up to 6000 rpm now with the running-in, in the midst of the coldest winter Belgium has seen for 15 years! The ride to and from work is getting to be more and more amusing!

Intrigued to see your reactions

Yeah, it's true. The Striple has a shoddy turning radius. It's a 6-7 point turn-a-round to go from facing in to facing out in my driveway (since I can't back up the damn thing).

Thanks for the confirmation Aaron - I wonder if it's a general Triumph thing, in fact, as my husband finds his Sprint Triple a nightmare o turn around in the same space!
Any input from those of you with another Triumph in your garage? (lucky people, indeed!)

Nah, no problem turning it for parking. Sidestand pivot technique is all that is needed.........ask a dealer to show you how.

My step-fathers T100 can literally turn circles inside my Striple. He's always laughing at me. I need a "Caution: Vehicle Makes Wide Right Turns" sticker...

Well, well, well, now I'm really intrigued Thread, it sounds almost painful - and husband's eyes went round as he thought of all the potential damage to a) his paving, and b) the sidestand. However, I will certainly ask the question when I take her in! Don't suppose you could put a series of photos or a short film of you in action, doing the said manoeuvre???

Because it's kind of an old topic. Might try the Search feature to see the early discussions, such as this one.

Thing is, it's only a concern when you're walking the bike and are fully dependent on the front wheel's rather limited steering lock range. (As Thirdway says, there's a fairly easy workaround... much easier on this one than the Sprint, in fact.)

The actual turning circle (meaning, when being ridden) is pretty tight. I can do figure-8s on this bike in a space no wider than I needed for circles on my Speed Triple.

The steering stops I'm sure are the same ones that the Daytona has since they share the same frame. The Daytona is limited due to the fairing.

I don't really find the turning radius too bad since you can lean the bike way over and turn it around fairly tightly.

haha cant believe riders dont know how to do the kick stand pivot, all you do is stand on the side of the bike with the kickstand, grab the frame under the seat on the other side, and the handlebars, pull the bike towards you so that it comes up on the kick stand, and pivot the bike, it wont mess up the kick stand or the cement, i do it like 10 times a day! lol
