I would start with this.

And weld additional tubing on to it.

You are aware that will require a complete rear frame section swap, correct? Where are you going to put the coolant reserve bottle?

yeah i have read up on the subject and talked to someone else who has done it. i found a rear sub frame and the plasitcs that go inside that for battery housing etc. and a few other misc things im going to need like cushons used but still in decent shape. it may take a little fab. to get the resivor in there but im sure i can make it work out.

Cool, please keep us posted on your progress with lots of pics! I have also thought about this swap, as I like the single seat vs the banana seat. I'd probably need to sell off the Arrow twins and get a low-mount exhaust as well if I went through with this. Sargent is working on a seat for the Striple, I'm holding off until we hear reports back on it.

i will for sure, i have a lot i want to change my bike this winter, i cant wait to see what all i can actually get finished! but as always i will take pictures of the progress. im interested in seeing this seat setup your talking about. the only reason im doing this now is because i found a good deal on the parts. i considered having a poweder coat on the frame and subframe done this winter. any idea on what the going rate is for something like that?

Like painting, powdercoating pricing is all over the map. I would guess around $100 to sandblast and powdercoat a rear frame. Around where I live, they charge about $100-150 per wheel, depending on powder brand and wheel detail.

Got email from Sargent today saying they are going ahead with a new seat for 2008+ Street Tripple. I'll buy one; very happy with the Sargent on my SV650S. Greg.

Since this seems to have gotten hijacked inadvertently from a stunt cage thread to a seat thread, watch for the seat posts to be spun off into a thread of their own this weekend.
