What Size Allen to Remove Front Wheel?

Anyone know? Also what size socket is needed for the rear axle? I need to take my wheels off to get some new tires thrown on. Thanks.

Front is a 17mm allen key. Get a 17mm sump plug removal tool, it will fit a 3/8 drive socket set.

What the hell is a sump plug removal tool? Is there a U.S. equivalent of this?

Most sump plugs, be they Yanky, Jap or Euro theses days are no longer hex headed bolts but allen heads or security heads. Presumably to stop "dimwits" changing their oil using a shifter. The removal tool is simply a allen key that fits in a 3/8 drive socket.

you need a 17mm allen, it would be best to find one that can fit a 3/8th ratchet so you can have some leverage on it.

sump plug = oil plug

a good parts store would have one

Handy for alot of things, the aluminum version is much lighter for carry, but for long term shop use, the chome moly steel will be tougher. Ken

Just a tip: a lot of spark plug sockets have a hex end on them to allow the use of a crescent wrench. This hex end is typically 17mm. I just put an extension in the socket side of the socket and basically use the spark plug socket backwards.
