ECU sounds after bike has been shutoff?

There is a weird sound my Striple makes after the bike has been shutoff for like 5-10 seconds that sounds like the ECU is uploading something. Is this normal to connect to the mother ship after the bike is shutoff?

My theory is its the fuel pump discharging to reduce the pressure in the line.

but as mentioned.. its normal and nothing to see here.

If aliens visit... then worry your bike it reporting to the mothership

It's completely normal. ECU is setting itself up for the next start conditions. I can't remember the specifics but it's something to do with the stepper motor being preset and such.......

Kind of an old topic, actually. The sound is not coming from the ECU itself, though it is ultimately responsible. As Greg says, it is stepper motors being reset so there will be less of a routine to go through at the next start-up.

I thought it was the ECU or fuel pump as well.
Sounds very cool though!

I was going to say the same thing! My bike checks its AOL account when I walk away.

Super old thread but I just couldn't resist adding my own; I tell people that ask that the bike is initiating it's satellite tracking anti-theft device. Seems to work...
