Oil on my front rotor RH side:

I noticed oil running down my rotor and a little pool on the rim edge. There is also oil on the outside edge of the rotor all the way around, mixed with brake dust and I can't find where it's coming from. I can't find a leak anywhere and it's not near the caliper. It's more toward where the fork comes down. Could it be coming from my fork?? I stuck my finger up inside the fork and it was wet in there. Anybody got any thoughts about this?

thx

oil on my front rotor RH side

I was wish it was just the neighbors mutt. I'm gonna ride it without using the front brake and see if I can find it by process of elimination.

I narrowed it down to the right front fork. It's leaking under the fork below where the axle goes through. There's about a 1/2" inside diam hole at the bottom of the tube and it's dripping to the ground and onto the rotor when it's parked on the side stand. The liquid is clear. Does anyone know how big a job it is to reseal the fork? I'm sure Triumph will stick it to you.

Pricing in California is about $175 for new seals and oil with the forks on the bike.

oh should have mentioned, keep that oil off your break pads or they will be ruined and not to mention unsafe!

Thx SF,

Does that include the labor? I think it's too late for the pads. Before I noticed the leak, they were soaked.

Yep, that's what I was quoted for parts and labor.

I don't know how the upside down forks work. The oil is coming down (I think) from the inside. It seems to be dripping around the axle. The outside of the fork is dry. Thx for the info.

Thumbs up

I think you may have lost #15 & #16 from the bottom of your tube;

check it out, see if you can get a mirror on the floor to look up into the tube (flashlight would help too)
