Difference between Standard and R Versions

Can we PLEASE have a new sticky - not in the upper section, but stuck at the top of the general posting section entitled:

The difference between the Standard Street Triple and Street Triple R

Bikes are the same except the following:
Street Triple R has Daytona front forks
Street Triple R has reservoir-type adjustable shock @ rear
Street Triple R has Daytona front radial brakes
Street Triple R has different seat cover
Street Triple R has different paint colors and decals

I'm sick of seeing the same questions over and over about the perceived differences between the two machines.

Well, apart from the pesky little problem that making anything sticky automatically puts it in the top section, I'd say that's a good idea.

So let it be written; so let it be done.

It's amazing, and I'm not blaming anyone in particular, but I've seen folks that think the R model has an entirely different engine, lol. There is so much hype surrounding these bikes that folks are assuming the R model is a revelation, whereas it's pretty darn hard to make much improvement from the original.

Truth -
But imagine if the R had the Daytona spec'd engine.... mmm more beasty than it already is!!

I agree with Nean though. If we can get a sticky post for the differences I think it would be quite productive.

Street Triple R comes with the Gel Seat which is available as an option for the standard Street Triple.
Street Triple R has a thicker Magura handle bar with different bar clamps

Actually, the gel seat notion has been disputed in the existing seat threads. It's different, but not a gel, according to some owners.

It isn't gel, but it sure isn't as bad as the stock one either.

I'm relatively sure it's just different stitching and that's it.

Hmmm... here the R is only US$600 more. Although bear in mind the standard is US$12.700 while the R is US$13.300. So that's why I took the plunge and went with the R.
