Street Triple Down Shifting:

Does anyone have a problem downshifting? I mean, if you get caught in 4th gear when the light's turning red, or if someone pulls out in front of you and you have to make a quick stop, do you have trouble getting down throught the gears? If I get stuck in 3rd or
4th, I can't seem to get down to 1st without letting the clutch out and pulling it in 3 times (not touching shift lever, the shift lever is all the way down) just letting the clutch out gently and I hear a loud click. On my other bike I can shift down 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, with no sweat, but no can do on the Street Triple. It upshifts fine.

Yup, I have that issue sometimes also. It's not really a big deal but it can be annoying sometimes!

same here, I forgot to downshift when or before I was stopped and when the light turned green I stalled then had to fumble down through the gears, just have to make a habit to remember

This is normal and happens on almost all bikes. A sequential manual gearbox requires the gears be perfectly aligned for the selectors to change properly, so letting the clutch out slightly allows it to find its sweet spot and select as the selector forks slide on the shafts. The selectors themselves have teeth on the inside and slide over a toothed cog, so if the teeth are not perfectly aligned on each then it wont select the gear, and this is what you are experiencing. In reality it is relatively unlikely that the teeth will match up perfectly if the clutch has fully disengaged the gearbox from the engine, so either the back wheel needs to be moving or the gearbox side of the clutch does. If your other bike always allows the gear selection then it may be that the clutch has a tiny amount of drag, or even that it has enough viscousity in the oil to cause the gears to turn slightly.
Either way, nothing to worry about, just live with it

Cheers,
Jason

Not really. I use the engine to slow me down. It's RARE that I will do a 4th to 1st jump. That's how you wreck your stuff. If you're going 40 in 4th and run it down to first and let the clutch our, you're more brave than I.

Instead, agressive braking with hands and feets are along side blip-down shifting to keep the rear tire tracking straight.

Down Shifting:

Thanks for all the good replies.

I wasn't trying to shift from 4th to 1st. I couldn't get past 3rd. Once I came to a stop, I couldn't get 2nd or 1st. Pull the clutch lever lightly got me to 1st, but I could hear clicking sound.

Hold pressure on the shifter and rock the bike back and forth.

Same thing on my previous Honda. The rocking back & forth suggestion is a good one.
