Bent my oversized bar

That sounds dodgy haha

I came off my triple R the other day at fairly low speed. Just noticed that the oversized bar looks bent. This was confirmed for me when I went to try and adjust the suspension and the bar was blocking the adjuster completely.

I was wondering if the bar was steel or aluminum? Maybe its been weakened by the impact. Thinking I will just get a new one because it is distracting to me because I keep looking at my bent bars while riding.

Are you sure its actually bent? Mine was twisted quite a bit, but I was able to re-align the clamps on the triple T and straighten it out.

Replacing the bar is easy. Getting the grip off is easy (do a search). Sometimes aftermarket bars don't have the holes required for the controls. You can either cut/sand off the plastic tabs on the controls or drill a hole in the bar.

well I am not sure it really didnt go down very hard so I was kinda shocked to think they had bent.

What do you mean by the triple T?

Should I just loosen the clamps and try to re-align?

The clamps attach to the bars and the triple T (two forks and the frame hinge point = 3). If you take the top of the clamps off, you can lift off the handlebars and access the bolts that go through the clamps to nuts underneath the triple T. You will have to loosen those as well to straighten out the clamps.

They're probably twisted in the clamps, and your triple tree is fine.

I had the same issue coming off of a 30mph wheelie to low side.

If you loosen the handle bar clamps you should be able to straighten the bar out.

Mine is straight but I SWEAR there's a slight twist to the right, but I can't seem to get it fixed... I tried loosening the triple tree and that helped... maybe I'll just get clip ons too

The allen screws into the clamp or into the triple tree?

If you're trying to unscrew the bolts into the triple tree you'll need a wrench on the bottom as there is a bolt/washer combination underneath to prevent the clamps from slipping

Oversized aluminum bars are really thin walled and unless you get special built MX ones (double walled) they aren't as strong as most people seem to think they are.
