Rotary damper coming

Called up GPR stabilizers yesterday. Asked if they had steering damper available for the STR yet. He answered that they have been having a lot of requests for them but are still designing it. Probably will not be out till Jan. If you go to their site grab there phone # and give them a ring, maybe the more people that request it the faster and more priority it will be given.

Are you getting head-shake? It's hard to imagine the Striple needing a steering damper, that is typically not an issue with handle-bar'd bikes.

A little when accelerating hard and shifting at high speed on the track or back roads. I see a damper as more of an insurance mechanism for those just in case moments. Since our high bar bikes still share the ultra nimble frame as the Daytona but with way less weight on the front end I think that the StR is actually more prone to headshake than a typical naked bike that has a lazy frame.
To be clear, the bike does not "need" it but it is nice to have just in case.

I'm not sure I follow your reasoning. Way less weight on the front end? Where did they move the extra 11 pounds to, I wonder?

No, not actual bike weight but rather the riders body weight. I had the opportunity two weeks ago to take a 2010 Daytona for a spin at the local dealer. I have never latched on to clipons so low. I felt a good amount of my weight over the front wheel. Took about 15 mins to get used to the St3R after that test ride.
