shift pig

any thoughts on why an 08 Street Triple would turn into a "shift pig"
the gear shift lever is difficult to move; it takes a bit of "muscle" to move it up or down and nuetral is a bitch to find
it feels like you are pushing the shift drum or forks against an unreasonable load or friction
the bike has 4000 miles on it and we use Mobil 1 15-50
the clutch lever free play is adjusted per the manual
the gearboxs on my Speed Triple and Daytona 675 are much better

I'd try taking a lot more slack out of the clutch cable. See if it helps.

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Make sure your shifter and all the linkage is tight and not about to fall off and that the shifter pivot on the set back is lubed and moves free. If all that is a-ok then it's a possible problem with the shift drum.
