Side stand?

So I used a lowering link to lower the seat height, and the side stand is still just a bit too tall. Is welding the only option for shortening the side stand, or is there another side stand that I can purchase?

There is a tab on the stand itself that serve as a stopper(when deployed) I think you could file this part in such a way as to make the stand rotate farther thus making it shorter. Or the L shape part that hold the switch (the stand itself bolt to this piece) could also get file to get the same effect. I personnaly would do the latter since it would probably be cheaper to replace(this part) in the advent you sell the bike later. Hope it helps.

We had the same issue with the girlfriend's bike when a lowering link was installed. Rotating the sidestand forward works well. I wouldn't waste any money on welding or on an aftermarket stand even if one were available.

Wheezer, can you explain what you mean by rotating it forward? A picture, maybe?

Thanks,
Nancy

I've just had my 09 Street Triple R lowered with a link kit too & I'd like more clarity on how this wks?

I also find the side stand a little oddly positioned for my short legs, perhaps I'll get used to this

I now understand what is meant by rotating the stand, but unfortunately the length is a problem as I hav a belly pan installed on my st3r (09) that i like! still no solution for me

Hey ceska, how do you rotate the stand? I just took a look at it and I can't figure out how it would rotate. I have a 2009 standard too, but no belly pan.

Someone else made that suggestion, but I never quite figured it out either... I've since had the foot removed, the stand shortened, foot welded back on & paint touched up. Works really well, yet i'm thinking of having the kicker I put on lengthened a tad as if I'm ever on the wrong rd camber I still struggle...damn short legs!

Yeah, it really doesn't look possible with the way our stand is bolted onto the bike. I'm gonna go the same route you did with having a shop cut it down and weld the foot back on there. How many inches did you lower your rear end and how many inches did you cut off the kickstand? My Soupy's link should be coming in the next couple of days so I'm looking to get my stand out to the shop to have it back in time to install with the link.
