installing fat bars.. any tricks?

Hi All,

I bought some Fat Bars and risers and plan to install them on my Striple tomorrow.. any tips or tricks before I get into it?

I'll try and remember to take pics as I go, and certainly when I am done if anyone is interested..

Thanks

Your gonna need to remove the plastic pins in the controls.

thanks blackheartrob, though I didn't come across any plastic pins when I tried to do this yesterday..

Where I did come unstuck however was the bolts for the new risers were too thick!! So will have to get new ones. Will probably go with the OEM ones.

But it was all pretty straight forward in pulling everything off (and back on!!)

One thing I did note was that I'll need new bar weights.. and the left side grip will be painful to get off.. anyone got any experience to share on that front?

I have photos that I will post soon - once I have actually finished the task..

Grips are cake. I use Windex. Peel up the very outside of the grip and slide a skinny screwdriver in there. Then squirt the Windex in. start twisting. It'll come right off. If you use the Windex to get the grip back on, you'll have to let the bike set overnight so the grip won't twist on the bars anymore.

If you have access to an air compressor the grips only take a few seconds. Blow compressed air between the grips and the handle bar to get them off and to install. No messy stuff to deal w/
