LA Triumph Demo Days....yup, I'm sold!!!

Took out a Street Triple R a few weekends ago and I must say it's some of the most fun I've had on a moto ever!!!

First impressions when firing it up was, dayum the Arrow 3-1 pipes sounds AMAZING in person and when you are on top of the bike. I honestly could care less what it sounds like to the rest of the world, it just straight up rumbles from underneath.

Second impression....the grips SUCK!!!! They are soooo hard and the minor angle of the seat put just enough pressure on my arms that I noticed a little discomfort after 15 minutes. I'm almost 100% positive it's something I'd get used to. I'm coming off of a Bonneville now and I've had sportbikes in the past and I remember it taking a while to get used to the riding position. But, new grips would be first on the list for me.

Third impression and so on and so on..........the moto felt extremely compact, which I loved. I'm a smaller dude (5'10", 150lbs) and I felt it was a perfect fit for me. I almost didn't even notice the gas tank in front of me.

The clutch grabbed a little bit later than my Bonnie, but after 2 take offs I had it dialed in. No stalls!! LOL!! Shifting was smooth and I really appreciated the gear indicator on the dash. Great feature. Everything felt tight. Solid steering, perfectly taught suspension. Even the train tracks I crossed weren't a big deal. I stood up on the pegs for one section then stayed in the seat the next and it wasn't a worry either way.

Holy friggen TORQUE batman!!!! I could get in a LOT of trouble on this thing. :P It begged me to be bad. Haha! It was a guided demo, so not too much shenanigans coulda been handled, but I got a couple good blasts down the highway.

Overall.............I want one. In time it will happen. Such a fun moto!!!!

oh.......here's the pic of her. She's a looker!!!!

I take it you were at OTD last weekend? Good guys and great price. That's where I got my Striple.

That's kinda what happened to me. I rode up to Brea for the Factory Demo Truck event and rode a Tiger and the StR. They had two StRs and I rode the all-stock one. Two weeks later I had one in my garage and I sold my Scrambler. I didn't buy at Brea though. I saved a grand by getting one in Lomita. Make sure you shop around.

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

My Striple is a combo of OTD in Inglewood and Triumph Brea.

OTD: Bike, bar-end mirrors, first service (and free t-shirt...awwww)
Brea: front cowling, rear hugger, seat cowl, $6 bolts to fill the holes where the front reflectors used to be

Funny thing is, I had the stuff from Brea before I had the actual bike.

Ted -

That just means that you had an excuse to buy the bike

That's pretty beasty looking Green Machine you got that. I'm really diggin' those gold levers!

I was there too, checking out the Bonnies... SE, T-100, Thruxton. Didn't get to ride the scrambler. I think I am sold on the T-100. Just not sold on New. Looking at a used one right now and that's cool with me.

The Sport Bikes scare me. Only because I think I would be hearing Tom Cruise (aka Maverick) in the background saying, "I feel the need, the need for speed." Not in Los Angeles you don't.

So I stick to the Bonnies. Safer for my ego.

That tilt forward you feel goes away after a few weeks, basically your butt forms a pocket in the seat with use and the lean goes away.
