How's this for a first day?

So I go into the dealer today to sign paperwork and all that (which took absurdly long, they happen to finance with an Alaskan bank.....by fax, ugh!!) at 10 A.M. and finally left the lot at 2 P.M. on my brand spankin new '09 Fusion White Street Triple : So I start to take a really long, beautiful way home and get about 16 miles on the bike when it just dies. Battery's dead for some reason. So the dealer came out to pick it up and give me a ride and I ask him if they'll get it done today. NO!!!!! They've already closed and don't open up till TUESDAY!!! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?!?!?! 16 miles is not going to hold me over till tuesday!! And to boot, it's my first bike that I've owned, ARGHH:

Sorry to hear about that, in this economy especially, you'd think there would be a little more "bend over backwards" and put in a hour or two of overtime for a new client.

Sounds like its already time to find a new dealer. I know a couple of the Triumph dealerships up Seattle way, I withhold identifying, but can guess which one it is.

Hope they rectify your problem ASAP!

You really should name the dealership and the people that you dealt with. They are on commission and don't deserve future business if they are crap which it appears they are.

Why are they using an Alaskan bank? My dealership in Raleigh, NC used Freedom Road Financial which is a motorcycle specific lender under BMW. Very easy to use and fast. Who in the wolrd still uses fax machines? Scan and e-mail!!!

The shop mechanics aren't on commission, baileym.

The place may not be perfect, but if the dealer came out and picked up the bike after hours, IMO they don't deserve the kind of abuse you seem ready to heap upon them there. It's bad enough to have to wait for the bike to be fixed. It would have a lot worse to have to find your way home, figure out some way to retrieve the bike before something happens to it, and still have to wait for the repair.

Were they using Alaska USA?

I am in the process of researching what i want to but next since the Wife gave me the go ahead on buying a motorcycle for next season. Doing alot of research on the Street Triple. I am sure that this instance is not common. It might be due to the fact that maybe it was sitting for awhile and the battery just was no good? I dont know. I doubt it but its a thought. Did the dealer ever state what might be wrong?

Yeah, I am fortunate and grateful that the pick up guy came out 10 minutes before he got off, that was rad. I'm * about the incident but not really at the dealer. I'm more mad that I can't ride my new bike when it is SO nice out. I only got a little taste....

I happened to roll the bike into a Schucks auto supply and ran into a guy that had a Street Triple, who said the mechanics setting up bikes from the crate sometimes get hasty and don't charge the new battery properly, so that might be the case, maybe not. The mechanic I talked to from the dealership said they've had a few bad batteries from the manufacturer. But I'll find out when they open Tuesday.

Citcope - Alaska Federal Credit Union. And go test drive a Street Triple and you'll love it

Yeah i use Alaska USA Federal Credit Union. I am originally from Alaska now living in Massachusetts. As far as the test drive goes....I recently went and looked and sat on one at a dealership near where i live and i asked about test driving one and he said they don't do that with the sport bikes just the crusiers. He also was trying to get my to buy a KTM Super Duke from 07 for 3k off.

I'm all for naming and shaming dealerships that don't perform.

So long as we balance the books and name the ones that do perform.

I had a similar problem, when I went to pick my speedy up. I called ahead of time and they were still working on the charging system when I was done with paperwork. I had to wait an 2 hours then they threw a quick wash on it and said good to go. I was very nervous that I was going to have issues with that but so far so good 1900 mi. later. This being my first brand new bike I have to remind myself it has not really been tested or ran at all for all the little things that can loosen and be not be exactly right. I watched the mechanic working on mine put the .4 miles it had on it just working out that charging issue. So just something to consider. Hope it all works out. Ya never know maybe they will hook you up with your first sevice free or something of the sort. It never hurts to ask. Good luck, be safe and have fun.
