What should I expect to pay?

I'm looking at buying a new Street Triple in the US. What should I expect to pay?

Thanks

Brad

That's going to depend on your dealer, and whether they happen to be moving a lot of this model or not. Generally, expect one of two things:

1. Pay MSRP, but try to negotiate on setup and other fees. Or,
2. Negotiate a lower base price, but don't expect wiggle room on dealer fees and accessories.

(And gents, a word of warning in advance, if this turns into another "what did you pay" thread and a lot of throwing around of meaningless buzzwords like OTD, it will get merged with one of the existing ones.)

If you would let us know your general locale, Brad, it would help members from your region address your question more specifically than having folks from all over the world chiming in with numbers that probably won't be relevant to your area.

You should expect to pay MSRP + TTL + Setup fees, unless you go in with a figure in mind.

-You know your state tax
-Setup seems to be the same quoted number posted all over the famous thread Diego mentioned. Search OTD, I'm sure you'll find it.
-TTL varies by state. In my state there is a legal maximum a dealer can charge for doc fees, but I also know what it would cost if I just went in off the street and did it myself. So try to find that info, and get a reasonable figure.

Figure out what you are willing to pay for the bike without all those fees, add it all up, go to the dealer and offer that price. If you think it's fair, and they accept, it's a win-win. Let them figure out what to deduct.

If you think you are a fantastic negotiator, then go for it and squeeze out the last penny. I hate negotiating with a passion, so I went with I figure I was willing to pay based on my locality, prepared to walk. It's a "want" not a "need" after all. Some may argue with that . I argued with myself too. It's clearly a need now.

Someone will always pay less than you did. Worrying about that isn't worth the time, so long as you're ok with the price you pay. I still am, and I'm sure whoever buys that last 09 when the 10's come out, will steal it.

If you're open to a trip to MO, the dealer has a used one that could save you some $ if msrp is stretching your budget. The dealer also generally sells for msrp without adding fees. You didn't say what part of Arkansas but the MO dealer is only about 2 hours from the Arkansas-Missouri line.

Hope that helps.

If it's a bone stock Striple then here's a way to put it:

Standard tax of your state.
Minimum of $500 under MSRP (if you can negotiate average and don't jump the gun)
Around $450 set up fees.
$100 paperwork fees.

Here in MN I was able to get $800 off MSRP, cut my set up fees to $250 (down from $450)
$70 for paperwork
and my standard 6.85%or 7% sales tax.

Again like previously stated, if you are willing to go to Missouri... I bought mine from Engle Motors in Kansas City. I got my loan through State Farm Bank, and negotiated down to $9000 including setup and documents for my Triple R. I highly recommend them (very friendly and customer oriented) their number is 816-241-7554 ask for Peter.

I like the folks at Engles too, but actually, I think the earlier poster was referring to El Dorado Springs Cycles, which is nearly a hundred miles closer to Arkansas and also gives good deals and service.

Correct (why do I feel llike you had inside information! ). Although they no longer have the 2009 Matte Graphite R for sale...

As of last weekend they had a used 2008 in Fusion White with around 2000 miles on the clock that they'll let you test ride and they have a new 2010 Street Triple in black. Hit them on the web for the number and ask for Randy.

Thanks for all the responses. I was just curious what the price was. Looks like if I go with that it will cost me MSRP or close to it. The amount I can afford is based on how much my current bike (2001 MV Agusta F4S) sells for on ebay, at least that's what my wife has said. I may fudge a little on that
