Bad landing

So I took a pretty decent fall to the right side of the bike... while hitting a bump on a wheelie. Handlebar mounts are pointing the bars to the right (anyone know how to fix this)... and my rear brake pedal snapped off! And a little scrape to the the engine casing. That's the entire damage of the bike. So not too bad.

Anyone know how much a rear brake pedal costs or is it part of the entire rearset assembly?

Anyway, it was relatively slow (45mph) bike didn't slide much.

Road rash to my right knee area, and that's about it. Gotta love ATGATT

Replacement Parts

Alpha,
Glad you're ok and bike only has a few bruises.

As dealerships are often the most pricey and take the longest, I'd check out this: iconhttp://www.bikebandit.com/triumph-mo...-2008/o/m17742

#13 is what you need, I think, for $86 + s/h.
I don't have direct experience buying from them but someone here must.

Or its an excuse to get new rearsets which will cost you $350+.

Oh, and the bar-end cover is scraped (not the handlebar itself) and so is the brake lever. No biggy though.

Just worried about straightening the handlebars and getting a rear brake pedal.

Would I need to anything special (bleeding brakes) if I replaced just the pedal?

Ok . . . well . . .

Alpha,
Not a mechanic here but I'd say if the bars are bent, I'd replace them as they could now have a weak spot which isn't good. If the risers are bent, I'd replace them too. It sounds like you ride the bike hard and you wouldn't want to come down from a wheelie next time (and there will be a next time) to have your bars falter on you.

As for the brakes, don't think you'd have to bleed them unless the fall damaged the system.

If I were you, I'd take it to a mechanic to check it out. I don't mess with brakes as I want to make sure those work no matter what.

Pretty sure the bars are fine, I think the risers are too. Not sure.

I'm going to try and get the bars straightened tomorrow, otherwise I'm gonna end up riding the bike in and see what the mechanic says.

I just straightened my bars after my bike got knocked over. Fairly easy. Remove the bars (put an old towel on the instrument cluster and set them there) and loosen the handlebar clamps. Lift up on the big washers under the clamps. They have cone-shaped rubber washers on the bottom. Straighten the clamps and tighten them up. You may have to sit the handlebars in the clamps to make sure everything is square before your final tighten. That's it.

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Anyone know where I can find screw for the radiator cowls without having to pay for more S&H than the screws are worth? I checked BikeBandit and they charge 5.95 for S&H on $4 screws... I would buy from them if they had more parts though, like reflective rim tape, but they don't.

So... any input would be great. Thanks!

Well run down to your local hardware store for some screws. Don't bother with a Home Depot your local ACE or Hardware Hank would be a better choice. Most of them have a pretty good selection of metric hardware.

Good to know that there was not any major damage to you or the bike.

If you do wind up needing to bleed the brakes its not that hard. Its not a bad thing to learn how to do anyway because you never know you might have to do it at some point.
