Running her in, it's a bummer

Just picked up my S3R and it's great, but having to sit below 5k for 500km, and then 6k for another 500km is a bummer. I'm trying to keep an eye on the taco and the road . . . can't wait for that 1500km mark so i can let her rip

I'm convinced the sticker on the tank is as much to train the rider as it is to break in the bike. The manual is different.

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

I wouldn't worry about sticking to it too much, I took mine up to 8-9000 rpm a few times before the first service.

Why you have to wait till 1500km? I had mine serviced at 850km and have opened her up ever since.

Just ride it, not too hard but not too soft either.

the little running-in sticker goes up untill 1500km or so.
no "restrictions" on RPM after that . .

I'm sure i'll be tempted to let it scream but i try to wait until after the first service.

I went the 1st 500 miles under 6000...got the first service and it's been full throttle ever since with no problems.

I'm pretty sure that my first ride on the bike was over the "allowed" rpm, as 5k is only 100km/h, and seriously, I didn't feel like being a moving chicane on the highways. I rode respectfully until about 500km, and then it has been riden aggressively from that point on which nary an issue.
So just enjoy it already!

There's nothing quite like that very first 1st gear full throttle run with the front tire only playing with the ground at most

Plenty of posts through this site on running a bike in.

Just ride it. Unless you're Bayliss or you hit redline on every straight you come to, I doubt you'll hurt it. Brake late, turn fast and use the torque to get you going again. No one will leave you for dead and you won't have to break the 7k - 8k rpm barrier.

Don't baby it, you'll stuff it.

Most importantly, have fun and keep the black side down
