Well, just back from a 300 mile round trip to get my first service in. Bike has now done just over 1,000 miles. Only cost £46 (labour was free!). In this first 1,000 miles, here are a couple of interesting things i have noted:
1) I figured that i am getting on average 130 miles before fuel light comes on.
2) My ass was rather numb after a good 2-1/2 hour drive (stock seat). Not complaining though, the roads here suck and i half exspected it anyway.
3) Had the worst rain i have ever ridden in. Lasted for a good 15-20 min and the bike handeled amazingly well! A horrific amount of surface water on 70 mph roads and the bike stuck to the road like glue. Only 1 squeeky bum moment when the back end slid a little on a big white arrow that, for some reason, are painted all over the roads in the uk to let you know you can go straight ahead in the lane you are in, even though there are no turn offs! WE KNOW!!!!
4) Overtaking lorry convoys is fun. Had 3 lorries lined up, buffeting me like crazzy, so decided to open her up and overtake. Next thing i know i'm doing over 100 mph without batting an eyelid!
5) I have the flyscreen installed. If you duck under it, it gives you another 4 - 6 mph due to reduced wind resistance, which is nice but not really needed.
6) The matt orange R is a definate head turner. Loads of folk hooting and commenting at places i stopped, which was also nice.
7) My girlfriend is a ridiculously good camera woman when driving at 70 mph (note: i do not condone this, but it was kind of cool). I will have to return the favour when her ducati monster needs serviced! Little clip below (note the sun finaly came out).

On to the next 6,000 miles...i'm sure it will keep getting better!!!!
