Installing TOR exhaust?

For those that have ordered the TOR exhaust, did you order come with instructions and mounting hardware? Mine didn't...

Installs in minutes, losen the pipe clamp where the muffler connects to the mid-pipe. Then remove the mounting bolt under the seat and slide the stock muffler out. Slide in the TOR muffler, install mounting bolt with a little loctite and tighten pipe clamp. Mine took about 15 min. The sound is pure bliss !
And no mine did not come with instructions or harware. Reused the stock hardware which was not an issue for me, since my R only had 100 miles on it before I installed the TOR's

The install is pretty easy on these pipes. The question I have is about the mapping for the pipes. Doesn't it require a reflash of the fuel map as any aftermarket pipe is "supposed" to? I know the Arrows come with it and figured the Triumph ones would too.

Yes, a remap is required for the TORs.

Another question though - is an upgraded air filter worthwhile to put on after the exhaust is upgraded, like a K&N?

In a word, yes. You're obviously concerned enough about performance or exhaust note (or both) to replace the stock cans. Increasing the intake airflow by using a high-performance air filter will have a similar (albeit less dramatic) effect. Besides, you've already spent $500 on the TORs, what's another $50?

And, after you do it, post some audio... I am anxious to do the exact same mod.

Of course, there are those who are not so happy about the dirt some of those "high performance" filters allow into the throttle bodies....

I just installed TORS on my ST3 at the weekend and I want to share my experience here in case anyone else makes the same mistake as I did.

I thought to save time I would get the dealer to put the TORs tune into the bike and I would then ride it home and fit the pipes myself. I did this and the throttle response seemed a bit strange. Much snatchier than before with a really annoying on/off surge just over 4k. Lived with it for a few days then popped back to the dealer to see if they could shed any light on the strange behaviour.

Turns out you are not meant to run the TORs map with the standard cans as the bike adapts itself to the current setup (I dunno, using the various sensors around the bike...) after a new map has been loaded.

Anyway the engineer had a hunch that this was the problem, plugged the bike in and reset the adaptations then let it idle for 15 minutes for the ECU to re-adapt to the map with the correct pipes on.

It now runs smooth as butter. Actually quite a bit smoother than it did when I got it with the standard map and cans.

p.s. the TORs are really loud! still not quite used to em yet.

Yes, this has been discussed in another thread. You can trigger the adaptation cycle yourself with the so-called 12 minute tune, in fact. At no time touching the throttle, start the engine, wait for the cooling fan to come on, let it idle a further 12 minutes, then cut the engine off and let it cool. It will adapt and match the sensor readings to the new map requirements.

I just got them back from being ceramic coated to match my R, and was wondering if I need to add any silicon sealant when installing them to the mid pipe, or just bolt them on?
