bellypan

Does anyone know if aftermarket bellypans are made for the Striple. I like the OEM (Triumph) one but price is high and I would like something that looks a little more custom. Any ideas?

I have not seen any but $200 for a painted body part is hardly expensive.

There isn't an aftermarket belly pan that I'm aware of. I think the factory pan looks really good on the bike and have in fact received numerous compliments on it and everything else about my little triple. I might have some simple gold pinstriping done to the bike this summer. From the flyscreen to the seat cowl down to the belly pan. I think that would work nicely with the roulette green paint.

If carbon is your thing.

I wouldn't mind paying the prices for the aftermarked body parts for the street triple if the were something more than just molded plastic.

To add a belly pan and seat cowl to my bike is almost $490USD. That's for TWO SMALL peices of MOLDED plastic. If we were talking fiberglass that's been painted, clearcoated and buffed to look like a nice quality peice then yeah, I would be happy to do it.

But...I'll likely order a belly pan and seat cowl just because it looks so good.

BE CAREFUL!!! Regardless of which belly pan you choose, please try and avoid the snag I just hit: While installing a stock bellypan on my new S3R, one of the plastic plugs that they stick in the threaded fitting on the right side (keeps the paint out of the hole during powder-coating) broke off leaving the pin portion in the hole. I had to soften the plastic stuck in the hole with a propane torch, drill a small hole in the plastic, reheat, inserted a small drywall screw and pulled the plastic pin out. It did result in some damage to the threads, but the hole was salvageable. Any more abuse, and I would have been looking at re-tapping the hole. The aluminum is very soft.

Wow! Thanks for the heads up! I'm glad it came out okay though.

Does the belly pan change riding dynamics or is it just for looks?

Not that I notice. Looks pretty cool. Keeps the bottom of the bike a little cleaner, but grit will accumulate on the inside...easy to hose out. $250.00 US color-matched. I bought the front and rear cowls and windshield as well. The windshield requires drilling of the front cowl (flyscreen)

I've got the fly screen and visor on my bike right now. Yes, I was a little worried about drilling on a VERY expensive peice of molded plastic but it turned out nicely.

My next buy will be a seat cowl becaues I think it makes the bike look just that much better.

I'm not completely sold on the belly pan yet, but i still want one
