It's a special tool. Used to knock the mirrors of the cars that cut you off!

Prop rod f/ the gas tank. It stores on the molded clips found on the bottom side of the seat. You should have an allen wrench attached under there as well.

yes it was attached to an alan wrench. I didn't question the wrench as I know its purpose.

Can you explain why I would need a prop rod for the gas tank?

thanks!

To prop the gas tank up, DUH!!! When you are working on the air box or ECU. But last week I installed a K&N air filter by myself and found it allmost useless as I had to pretty much remove the whole gas tank. I believe there is an illustration on how to use it in your owners manual.

Its intent is to prop the tank to get to the fuses if you need to make a change. (by removing the front screws attaching tank, and pivots up on the rear mount).

Yes, its truly worthless for changing the air filter. Only mostly useless for changing fuses.

Description on where to stick it......is in the owners manual.

Cheers!

I stuck mine back in the bag it came in and made sure I had breakdown insurance. If it gets as bad as needing that bit of metal I'm sure I will find a handy twig by the roadside.

So the parts guy and service manager didn't know what it was?
Did you buy from a triumph dealer? If so not sure I'd want them working on my bike.
