What did you pay for a Street Triple R
I'm interested in getting a Street Triple R and wanted to find out what kind of deal I can expect to get here in the Mid-Atlantic area of the US. Can anyone pass along your experiences regardless of your area of the US? I am trying to get a handle on out the door pricing including freight, set up, etc.
I will be able to pay cash and would like to get something done while we are still in the middle of winter. I also expect to get the 3-1 arrow exhaust with ECU download and the flyscreen and visor at delivery. I imagine there is a little more profit in these accessories and imagine the additional dollars spent should help in any negotiations.
TIA
Carl

The only way to tell what to "expect" would really be to find another customer of that same dealer, as the degree of negotiation flexibility you encounter will vary every place you go. Might want to name the place(s) where you are thinking of buying.

As the standard Street is the best selling bike in Triumph's range and has had a waiting list plus the R is being prodduced in limited numbers and is a new model and is well priced to start with I suspect there is limited room for negotiation. The plus side is you are a cash buyer with no trade-in. In the UK I would expect to pay list price and negotiate a discount off the extras you want. At the end of the day the most important issue is to get the bike from a reputable dealer with good customer service thus providing longterm satisfaction rather than the absolutely lowest price. At least that's been my experience. I'm sure you will love the bike as even the base model is a great ride.

I have the flexibility to go to four dealers that are a reasonable distance from me and could travel with a trailer to some farther away. The closest dealer is in Clinton, MD but I could go to a dealer in Baltimore, MD, Frederick, MD or Winchester, VA. At the DC motorcycle show one dealer quoted me around $10K out the door without any options but including their freight, shipping and other charges.
I really don't know how badly the motorcycle industry is doing in this bad economy so I don't know how badly any of them need my business.
I would be interested to hear of what people are paying regardless of where they are located. It is just a general idea and I understand YMMV but it's better to have some information rather than none.

Understood. It will have to feel like the right dealer for me regardless of price. I'd just like to get a deal that seems fair to me.

I'm in Northern California and had just inquired out of curiosity for the new Street Triple R. OTD Cyclesports quoted me $10,899 out the door. As they become more available in 4-6 months, they said their quote may lower a bit.

I would also like to hear what everyone else is paying. I got my Striple as a "press release" bike with around 2,700 miles on it but the bike was never titled or plated. They told me MY bike was used in magazines and picture shoots to "show off" the new triple. They also said because it was a press model it was broke correctly and is top notch. I paid $7,399 for my Striple and with tax, title and all it came to $8,007 USD with no shipping or set up fee. Is this a good deal for a bike with this many miles and an unknown amount of rider abuse?

EDIT: I wrote "...look for (this thread) to reopen after it gets merged it into the existing thread on this subject." Well, the old thread really is a zombie by now, so instead of merging I'll simply delete the old one and reopen this one. (Many other old threads will be pruned this weekend too, so read 'em now if you're interested in, say, all the speculation a year ago about what the 2009 models would be like. )
However, I still ask that you avoid the ubiquitous "out the door" pricing cliche. It's the most meaningless number for trying to determine whether someone's getting a good deal or not, because it is so totally apples-versus-oranges in nature. To make a meaningful comparison of "deals," one needs to know what the dealer is charging for the bike versus his add-on charges versus tax, which varies so widely by locale. Please try to break these figures out separately, if at all possible!

I can also suggest that a dealer may not give you the same offer if you are a one-time customer. If you frequent a dealer and tend to do any maintenance at the shop, you may be looking at a better deal.
I do most of my servicing myself but try to support the dealership in our area for various reasons. I get my oil and filters for both my bikes from him and whatever accessories I think will support him without breaking my bank. Additional, we bring business in to them because we believe in their product and service. Any work out of my reach goes to them as well.
Ultimately, your relationship with your dealer could possibly effect the add-on $$ as much or more than your added accessories.
Another variable to think about. Not a lot of wiggle room on negotiations due to the limited amout of St3's being built.

There are 2 Triumph dealers in my area, and neither of them were willing to negotiate on the list price. I ended up buying my Triple R from the on I was more comfortable with (and closer). They gave me half off the PDI as I had to wait 5 months for the bike, and a free t-shirt
