Dropped it

So.... My 2000 Sprint was dropped in the driveway onto its left side while it was running. I've read something on this forum about checking the airbox/filter for oil. Is this something that should be done before I start the bike again?

It would be ideal to do so before starting the bike again. The longer it ran on its side, the higher the chance it'll lock up.

Hey experts: is it worth turning the motor over by hand to see if it has the problem?

Cheers,
-Kit

If it was on it's side and stopped for more than 20 minutes or so I'd want to check that a cylinder wasn't hydrolocked by pulling the plugs and spinning the motor on the starter. 20 minutes or less isn't long enough for that much oil to weep into a cylinder. Nice thing with injected bikes is you don't worry about the cylinder being full of gas!

The oil in the airbox will not hydrolock the motor. But, when it leaks out the airbox it will go all over the swingarm and rear tire. On the right of the bike look down behind the primary drive casing and there's a black tube with a plug in it. Pull the plug and let whatever is in there drain into a pan.
