Lower Bars

Hey all, I have an 08 and loving every minute of it but am considering putting the lower bars on, the same ones I had on my 05. It isn't because I'm uncomfortable with the higher bars, just thinking I would prefer the lower ones.
It sounds odd but...has anyone else done this? Also, would I have to get shorter throttle cables? As an aside I called the parts at a local dealer and he said the lower set costs $212 while if you have the 05, 06 [and 07?] to but the higher bars as a set cost only $112? This sounds kind of goofy so I'm not sure about that aspect of the transaction.

Hi,
few months ago, if You lived in Poland we could switch handlebars between our bikes
Now I've got Genmars

Try to find somebody who's looking for higher bars for '05-'06 ST in Your region and make a deal with him

At least one person has done this, maybe more. You'll soon hear probably.

Yeah that's a good idea. I wonder if the seat position was also altered a little between the 05's and 08's? This would have an effect also but I just thought as is the 05 was perfect ergonomically for me as I prefer a slight lean-allows the lower back to open a bit more. I think you have a good idea there though as most people who ride the Sprints would probably prefer the higher setup.

stock clutch cable to go with them. i put on the LSL bar kit,
and will not use them again.

Thanks everyone, but yeah just found out yesterday a swap won't work going from lower to higher unless you have longer clutch cable and I was told longer throttle cables as well---also told the different model years have different throttle cables?
Anyway I bit the bullet and ordered the kit for $249 [ouch] but will at least have both options available to decide whether I like one over the other, or could also keep both for eventual change back.
The higher bar kit from Triumph only costs half as much though so something seems amiss. The above determination was verified by a local dealer.

Too bad because you had a good offer here for $50. If you put the lower bars on, you don't have to put on the shorter cable. You only have to change the cable when you go from shorter to longer. There are people on this forum who have done this.

...timing is everything, and coupled with my impatient nature, always get me into trouble! Not all bad though, this way I can keep two setups and still support the industry.:
