Or you could replace them with another brand; one with a traditional swivel design.

I have the same problem with one mirror. The other is fine. Looked at most of the options mentioned in this thread but haven't done anything yet. When the weather heads south, I plan on taking it apart and looking into threadig the post and using a nut.

I just put a thin panel spacer for a car, kinda looks like a U, between the swivel on top and the arm. It tightened my mirrors right up. The only problem is I cant swivel the mirror now

I'll bet you will find that there is a shoulder on the post that will limit the amount of threads that you can cut on it. This effectively will allow a nut to be installed only as far as the existing push nut can presently be installed. Removing the post and cutting the shoulder down is an option.....but all that work for a mirror that can be replaced?

And before I forget, that push nut is extremely difficult to remove for several reasons. You can push it on further, if there is space for it, but removing it is a demolition job.

OnD is correct. Removing the push on nut is a demo job. It won't survive the surgery! never liked those things anyway. Haven't had the chance to explore the threaded nut open yet. Don't want to spend the money on something that has a simple fix. But then again, I won't bust my a*# to come up with a fix either. It is only a mirror

Ond is right to a point. I have seen the underside of at least a half dozen mirrors and to a point none of them had the push nut down all the way. Now when I worked on my mirror it was a bear to get the push nut on and down much at all. The post is at an angle to the base so it is real hard to get a solid push on the nut. And messing with it will almost likely end up with a broken post, remember it is super cheap metal.

My Right mirror has a slight vibration problem as well. When I was in the garage the other day cleaning my bike I remembered this thread, and gave it a wiggle. yep..loose at the joint. So, after consiering what I had at hand for a minute or two my eyes fell on the Moldex earplugs I had just rotated out of service and tossed. I flattened one...stretched it out and BLING it slipped right into the small gap while the mirror was in the pivot position. I pivoted it back and it seems MUCH more secure.

**UDATE:***

The mirror is steady as can be. No vibration at all. Goooooooooo EarPlugs!
