Mono Headlight mock up - images

Hey all, thought some of you might like to see what the 955 Sprint might look like with a single headlight and early s3 gauges.

The light and brackets are from a buell and bolt on perfectly. The gauges are not attached and not wired in in these shots... only held by gravity

This week I'll try to make some brackets to hold the gauges in place, and take a closer look at what would be involved in fitting the ST gauges into this cluster, and doing something with the MASS of wiring that fits under the stock fairing... there's a ton of it!

Any suggestions on the wiring front? how to effectively hide it?

I'm still deciding if I proceed with this... the cluster is a bit larger than I'd prefer, but a fly screen style cowl might help to hide it.

Hey Lugan,

Great job. This looks real nice. On most unfaired bikes all the wiring hides in the headlight bezel. You push them all into a big hole in the back and clip them inside the bezel.

I can show you on my Bonny if you want a picture.

Cal.

Lugan, what model buell did the head light come off? looks good, how does it light the road?

THe Bonneville headlight bezzle would probably work too but you would need different for mounts. The Bonny has 41mm forks and the Sprints are 43....

Redmossy,
I will pull the headlight off tomorrow and post the what the guts look like.

Don't forget T3-series Tridents & Speed Triples have 43mm forks & single headlights. There's someone parting out a Trident in the classifieds...

Cheers,
-Kit

Thanks gents.

RedM1, it "should" light up the road fairly well... but i took it off shortly after the photo, and did not have it wired up - the stock stuff is still in place until i figure out all details of switching over. But I'll be buying an upped-wattage hella H4 which should make good use of this large reflector. On my last bike, a (awesome)Vmax, the light was about 1/5 inches smaller than this one, and still satisfactory. So I imagine this light will be much better.
The light assembly is off a Cyclone I believe, but will need to confirm.
I really like the look of this light - wide, flat and a slim profile front to back... it fits in close to the bike.. looks like it belongs and gives it a very staunch look/ stance.

Cal, thanks for the props. I'd like to see the insides, but I dont think the buell piece will allow for much internal hiding - it's profile is very slim, and there is a significant amount of wiring with multiple large connectors hidden behind the sprint fairing. Also, there are 6 standard sized relays that will need to be hidden / wrapped up in electrical tape

How are you liking the Bonnie? My first "awe" at motorcycling was as a kid watching a neighbor work on a 72... many years ago.

Bonny is wonderful but I miss my Sprint. I wasnt ready for it to go. I put so much work into it....

The Bonny is getting the same treatment. I already took the exhaust off and cleaned up the joints because the delaership used red gunk to seal them and they leaked. Plus the gunk was getting everywhere so off they came, cleaned them all up and used proper cement to seal them.

As far ast he wiring goes, you can get a crap load in there as long as your connectors fit through the back. You might have to get a deeper nacelle then the Buells but this is the place mose bike builders hid the wiring.

Nice pictures, and even better captions! Thanks.

There's no way I could fit that stuff into the Buell bucket. In fact, it has one output which is the headlight wiring. I might look into some small black boxes from an electronics store for making circuits... then locate it somewhere between the forks and the light & gauges.

So you traded in the Sprint? Thought you were going to hang onto it for a while.

I think you need to look for a 'wiped and afraid of motorcycling' triple sale like mine

..to keep the miles down on the Bonnie.

Thanks cal, those pics make me think I can get all my wires in there. I have a new problem though, the front wheel is off center so DEcosse is crunching some numbers for me to figure out the spacer sizes I need, just seems one thing after another.
