Repairing CF hugger ??

Has anyone done or know how to repair a CF piece? When my rear shock went my hugger was pressed between my tridents and my rear tire. As a result a hole was worn into the hugger maybe 2 inch by 3 inch. As it is a true CF hugger and not one of the plastic look-a-likes I want to keep it. So any ideas or suggestions would be great. I trashed one on my FZ1 (nail in tyre and gravel rash from the inside), I repaired it with fibreglass and had it repainted to match the bike.

If you want the carbon fibre look you can try and patch it with CF but I think it will look crap.

You are probably better off getting a new one. It is possible to repair the CF and make it look great but the cost for the materials, complexity of the repair and availability of the necessary tools make it unlikely that the repair would be feasable. Chaeper and easier to replace the part.

Hi Jeff, You might look in a Sporting Goods store outlet and take a gander at Brownell's AcraGlass. It's used to bed rifle stocks. It sticks and welds to anything and the bond is stronger than the parent material.
I use it all the time bedding CF, FG and wooden stocks. It's sandable/ paintable and you can D&T it. It also doesn't shrink. A friend of mine made a gear for his lathe with the stuff. It's one of my favorite and useful things. Other than ViseGrips that is.
