1000 mile trip
I have a 1000 mile trip planned for next weekend. I was curious what you guys do in regards to the chain and keeping it lubed. I will clean and lube it prior to the trip but should I bring the lube with me or will it be ok for the 1k miles?

1000 miles is nothing for a chain. Lube before you go, then enjoy the ride.

Chain Lube
The great beauty of the Sprint is, that it has a centre stand! Depending on weather and road conditions I would be tending to give the chain a quick clean and lube at the halfway point.
About to fit a Loobman Oiler to my Sprint. Takes the guess work right out of the deal. Simple to operate and fit, the big plus being, easy on the pocket at a fraction of the price of their competitors products.

When I go for a long run on my Sprint I will normally Lube the chain when I stop for the night. Letting it then sit for the night to soak in and then wiping the chain down in the morning.

Yup, lube once you've found a place to bed down for the night...if you remember in my case.

Before a long trip I always clean and lube the chain really well. I carry a small can of chain lube (Motul makes a nice small spray can good for about 10 lubes) that fits into the tank bag. Every couple of days, depending on the mileage, at the end of the day I give a quick spray. I'm pretty good at spinning the tire w a foot and spraying w my left hand...takes only a minute or two. I then congratulate myself on a job well done w a cool refreshing beverage, as I'm done w the bike for the evening!

1000 Miles in between lube is no big deal. If you find yourself "needing" it or to make yourself feel better...STCharlie is right about the small bottle you can take with you.

I just got back from a 1200 miler. I cleaned, lubed and adjusted the chain before leaving.
On the road, I lubed the chain every day as I normally go 300 miles between chain lubes anyway.
I carried along a small can of spray chain lube, and one quart of synthetic oil ... just in case.

I do mine every 1000kms. I almost have too as it starts to get noisy after that. Maybe my chain was starting to get old. 30,000kms.
