Tropcial Storm Fay Sucks

I haven't been able to ride since this terrible Tropical Storm has stormed the Southeast. What happened to the drought? I am a television news producer so that makes it even worse. I haven't had a day off since two weeks ago Sunday! I'm ready for Fay to go away. It better be out of here by Septeber 6th...I'm riding up to Athens for the UGA game. It is about a four hour ride. Go dawgs!

Ha! You should have been down here. I was in West Palm when it made the first landfall. I had to stay there an extra day because, although the storm had moved up to near Jax, the weather was still too bad to drive in. Two days later, I'm home, the storm is is in N. Fla, and it was still too windy to safely unload the bike from the truck. It was a crappy slow moving storm, but considering the size, it would have been devastating if the winds had been higher.

Storms

Back in 2005 October 2005 I was drinking great Cuban Beer (Bucanero) on the roof top bar of the Inglaterra Hotel in central Havana when Hurricane Wilma struck. We were stuck for five days, what a joy, in this elegant structure. All around us mayhem and huge seas. Flooding like you have never seen! What struck me was the Cuban Government's reaction to this age old problem in the Carribbean. Huge army trucks evacuated whole towns and villages to higher ground whereupon food and shelter was provided. Then, when the weather abated, back they were taken to clean up their homes. No loss of life.

Whilst in the Inglaterra we watched CNN live from Key West and the Florida Coasts. Women whining because they were without electricity and their air conditioners were not working! The one petrol station in the same place with car's four times around the block waiting for their ration of fuel.

But nothing beat the beautiful black long haired female Cop's, immaculately presented, on their even more immaculate Moto Guzzi patrol bikes

Luckily here in South Florida, we just got a little bit of rain. Of course our news channels made it seem like it was the end of the world.

Mattigar-Have fun at the Bulldog game. I'm going to the USC/Ohio State game on September 13th. See you at the BCS title game! USC vs. Georgia

Lovecuba- You sure get around.

Gustav On The Way

Heads up, mates. I heard this morning on the news that Gustav is projected to be a Cat 3 Hurricane by the time he reaches the Gulf this weekend. He could make Fay look like the bitch she was.

And, re the BCS game, the Florida Gators could factor in to that. I am hoping the 'Dawgs and Gators are both undefeated for their Nov. 1 showdown in Jax. Talk about the "World's Biggest Cocktail Party"!

I'm in central FL and the front of my yard is still flooded enough that I can't get my bike out. I don't have a concrete driveway and don't feel like mud bogging for 100' to get out to the street.

Cad Dad: Thanks for the update; glad you are enjoying the weather. Still looking for that perfect place where Mother Nature does not wreak her havoc and keep us off our rides.

Check back with us in January, will ya?

Isn't that what Florida is for? When New England weather sucks in the winter?
