Fuel Tank Sucks

Any one with ideas on this.
After about 12km ride, stopped for gas. Had trouble lifting the gas cap. the tank had sucked a vacume somehow.
Obviously a longer ride it would have started to cause me some problems.
Looking for thoughts on fixing it.
Thanks
Kremin

Sucking gas tank

You might have a pinched vent hose

+1 Deller

I would say that is almost definitely what the problem is.

You will need to lift the tank and check if the clear plastic vent tube is not crushed.

I bet that it is.

Thanks will check out the the vent tube, Have not had the tank off for a long time so don't expect the hose to be kinked but the weather has been mega crap so perhaps there is a bit of dirt there.

thanks for the help
Cheers

Also a distinct possibility.

Your fellow countryman and friend of mine "iceman" experienced the same thing as you describe on his 2005 1050 Sprint.

cheers,

Checked out the tube, no dirt but the tube was squashed where it and all the others go down behind the waterpump.
How are you supposed to get these back down there?????? Have got the airbox drain and one other in Ok. cannot get the other two to fit whatever I do.

..... mine were kinked where they connect to the tank - I suspect the tech routed them incorrectly when putting the tank back on after the service.
Just had a look at mine - they are very tight where they go down beside the water pump - dont know how to squeeze the last one in without removing the coolant hose.

Perhaps run it behind the water pump for now until the next service?

One way valve problem

This happened to me when I was on holiday in France, on inspection I found that the one-way valve attached to one of the vent tubes had blocked (hence the vacuum in the tank). It was a 5 minute job to remove it and blow out some water and debris that was causing the issue.
I hope this helps.
Tony.
