Ixil Cans = cool runnings

Got my Ixils about 2 or 3 weeks ago but have not had the time to put them together (I'm a full time grad student)

Finally put them on today -- easy job -- went together slicker than cat**** on a linoleum floor

Goes in for the TOR tune on Thurs.

It is 30 Celsius in Calgary today and I went for a 2 hour ride this afternoon -- lots less heat coming from under the seat without a doubt -- which is one of the big reasons I changed them.

Sounds great and definitely less back pressure - found myself having to brake where I would have used engine back pressure before.

I also took off and silicone-ed down the windscreen to stop the annoying vibrations it makes.

Congratulations on the Ixil. IMO, all Sprints should have that boat anchor exhaust binned and replaced with a TOR or an aftermarket unit such as yours.

I have had a Trident on my bike almost two years and have to say that I never noticed any loss of the engine braking effect approaching your description.

Yes,

Congrats on the pipes. Wow, you must have a scholarship for that grad degree!

Psh,
I have a question for ya:
The Trident basically branches the second and third pipe off of the first pipe so that most of the exhaust flow ends up running through the right side. Does the Ixil branch the same way?

What brought you to that conclusion, and do you have evidence or an example? My testing indicates otherwise.

This photo and an e-mail exchange I had with Wolf when I asked him if the set could be supplied as just two mufflers instead of three.

All I am asking is if the Ixil is branched off the same way...

True, that was your question.

But you did make the statement, "The Trident basically branches the second and third pipe off of the first pipe so that most of the exhaust flow ends up running through the right side."

I am merely suggesting that your statement is not 100 percent accurate, and a search of the subject would explain why. There are differences in the rate of flow across the individual Trident cans depending on the mid pipe configuration.
