And here I thought I was going to be the only guy with IXILs in Canada for a while. Now there are another set not even 300kms from me....

Congrats on the IXILs they are wonderful. I am finding that the TOR tune is a bit rich for them but will muck around with it.

As far as engine braking, huh? I just spent the last 2500kms in the Kootneys and the Rockies riding supper twisty roads with hug elevation changes and the engine braking is no different. As a matter of fact it also now adds a beautiful bark and burble to scare away the deer on the road.

As far as the what IXILs look like etc, search for my install threads. I have posted enough IXIL information on this forum to satisfy any questions you may have.

It seems to me like there's a little less compression braking and a wee bit less torque. Maybe I"M just more sensitive than you Calliway

Are you running the baffles with the TOR tune or no?

The TOR tune is rich -- what are the symptoms?

Shrink, you are obviously a perspicacious observer of people. I've probably known Cal longer that you, and have always thought something was wrong with him, but could not quite put my finger on it. You, within the span of a few posts have been able to clear it up for me. He is not sensitive. Now I'll be able to understand some of his posts, by virtue of having that info to put them into context.

Shrink, you need to put a K&N air filter and a K&N (TUV approved by the way) oil filter on your bike to help with the compression braking and longevity of your bike-they work great! = (special for OND). Also will give extra HP!

Most exhaust systems that have one collector/ feeder and dual or triple outlets are expelling the gases unequally-I had a set of Trident duals on my Speedtriple and most of the spent gases were coming out the rt. side-as my ace tuner and engine guru (Dev) sez "the other side is for the excess that the main pipe can't handle. It works very well, so do not worry about it.

I run the TOR period. It doesnt matter whether I have the baffles in or not - the TOR is not the perfect tune for these cans.

I ride with the baffles in when I am riding in a group. I did however take them out when I got to Nelson this week for the poker run and all the hard cornering Isle of Man style riding I did and the bike is was nothing short of perfect. I now have over 4000kms on these IXILs and the engine braking sans baffles is good on my bike. Yours may be different or as you have said maybe I am not very sensitive....

Katana Boy has manipulated a tune for his 2Bros pipe which is as free flowing as the IXILs and I may try that.

I am going to change my filtration to something more free flowing and that may help as well.

I am also not sure about having less torque... I am not sure it is possible for the overall torque to go down and the horsepower to go up. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

From what I understand -- one of the overall effects of a freer flowing exhaust on any (gas) engine can be a small loss of bottom end torque and/or small changes/shifts in the torque and hp curves.

I sure do like the IXILS so far though -- great look and great sound -- I go in for the TOR tune on Thurs so I guess we'll see.

As to my sensitivity to these things --- well --- I may just be out to lunch too

I guess I'm not that sensitive either.... I have the TOR tune with my IXIL's and I haven't noticed a loss in engine braking. Maybe I'm too busy loving the sound when I back off to notice.
