We actually bought the Sprint partly on the recommendation of a friend whose parents ride two up on one all over Europe.

My wife likes it better than my '78 Honda 750Four, which really surprised me. She is campaigning for a backrest and maybe a custom seat, but she clearly prefers the Sprint except to riding her own bike.

The 2 up capabilities on the S3 (or lack thereof) are the one thing that has stopped me from getting a Speed Triple TBH.

My RS (half faired and clip ons) is great for 2 up and as already stated you hardly know that they are there. FWIW my wife is 47kg and 5'1" (read little)

I make changes in my riding style when carrying her but the performance and the characteristics aren't changed overall.

I think the pre 05 models had the pillion a little lower than on the current model.

That is one of the reasons we are glad to have an older Sprint.

I am looking at a red 2002 with 5200 miles, with all three matching hard bags. I think I can get it for right around 5 Grand, I should be able to get more than that for my '04 S3 SE,that will help pay taxes and licensing.

Perfect Choice

G'day Devo.

Perfect harmony for a pillion - see the pic. The 99-04, IMHO are more comfortable than the later models for the pillions as the seat is lower and they can feel more in "touch" with you.

Congrats on your choice of year and color - they are the pick of the litter. Mines got 63k klm and still goes like (better) than new.

Send some pics when you get a chance..

+1 on Harry's comment of the pick of the litter. The 2002/04 models are the bees knees.

Have you tried modifying the S3 for 2 up? Can you get a better seat for them?
