I think Homeland Security wants to talk to you about their random surveillance system outages.

And ditto re watching out for them slapping together, or you will have little blood blisters on your hands, as I did.

Cheers, Simmo
Trust me, the magnets are not going anywhere unless they are dislodged by impact.

If a magnet happened to be removed, for whatever reason, the resultant clump, or other particles, would be trapped by the filter media since the magnet interfaces with the oil on the inlet side of the filter.

If the magnet was on the outlet side, that would certainly be a major concern.

Good stuff OnD I've been using rare earth magnets for the past few years on my cars. I simply stick the magnet on the bottom of the filter and have yet to lose one. But I never had the desire or curiosity to open one up to see what was trapped. The magnets are replaced after three years of driving in the winter salt after the nickel plating disappears (though the magnet still works).

Lee Valley Tools (leevalley.com) also does mail order and stocks a wide variety of rare earth magnets and washers to help increase their power if you're having trouble finding them.

Looking at the close clearance between the filter and the oil pan, is there any concern that the magnents may begin creating deposits on the inside of the oil pan?

If that concerns you, you can position the magnet to an area that is not as close to the sump.

I've tried placing magnets inside my helmet. No more migraines while riding! Also, when I glue them over my elbows it helps clear up the arthritis that I've been experiencing there lately.

And for another "old man" problem, they are far more effective than Viagra!

Please see my comment re the magnets slapping together and the resultant blood blisters. Then proceed with caution.

Will the magnets you're using help trigger those annoyingly long traffic lights? Just kidding. Well, maybe it is a legitimate question?

(BTW, in May, SC became the 7th US state to allow motorcyclists to proceed with caution through a sensor-controlled signal that won't change. We have to wait a full 2 minutes before proceeding through the red light.)
