The Easiest Gps Mount Ever

I have seen many ideas how to mount your GPS to your bike, all very good. Like many of you I have a very useful car GPS unit which I wanted to try and use on my bike. I have the Garmin 250 and have come up with a very simple solution.

I removed one of the handlebar allen bolts and replaced it with another identical s/steel cap head with a 3.3mm hole and 4mm thread tapped into the center of the bolt to a depth of approx 4mm. I then re-torqued the bolt back in its original position and screwed a short piece of 4mm s/steel which I had welded a 17mm s/steel ball bearing to the one end and cut a 4mm thread in the other.

Finally used some nut lock to tighten in position..job done, the existing cradle and GPS simply pushed into position.

I have stuck a pad (not on pics) on the rear of the GPS and with a simple D clip and cord used as a safety wire just in case it fell off however this has been in place and tested over rough ground and never fallen off!

Ram mounts do a similar version with a hard rubber ball.
its very strong and works in the same way and can be used in conjunction with a clamp so you han adjust heights and angles etc. you fit a ball to the back of your gps so its very adjustable. I considered a home made version like yours but considered the fact if it broke ive lost my GPS so opted for a tried and tested manufacturer.
i used it with a tomtom rider as the original fittings were dreadfull.
