I am in the process of having my front forks upgraded by Traxxion Dynamics. I had a hard time removing them. They are out but I think I will have a heck of a time reinstalling them. The problem? I had the bike on a stand via the front stem. I removed the calipers and all bolts holding the forks in place. I ran into a problem with the axle bolt. I was able to unthread it from the right fork but could not pull it through the front wheel and the left fork. I had to raise the front end high enough so I could drop the forks out with the wheel still attached. Luckily the tach cable was long enough to make it. I was then able to remove both forks. My front wheel is now leaning against the stand with the axle bolt still in it. How do I remove it? The worst part is a buddy is the mechanic at the local Triumph dealer but I feel too stupid to ask him. I'm sure it is something obvious. I tried to pull the bolt out by hand but it did not move and I was afraid of damaging something. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I do not know if a 2000 is made as a 2004 but there is 2 pinch bolts on the right side when you are facing the bike. I would imagine since you took care of them if you were able to unscrew the axle.

Make sure the pinch bolt are loose and just pull the axle. I just did that a few dys ago. The other problem possible is when your forks are not in line. The axle may be very hard to push in or pull out in that case.

If none of the above, you have a mystery for me now.

The pinch bolts were fully removed. I think I probably need to whack it with a rubber mallet, but I was getting concerned I missed something.

If there is no grease on the axle they are sometimes a pain to put in or out. I feel better for your axle knowing that you removed the pinch bolts.
