Sprint reliability
I have just arrived home after a trip around Australia
nearly 17000 ks in 35 days two up, this included 4 days of the bike.
Problems encountered with the bike, nil, none, nada.
Great trip on the most reliable bike i have ever had the pleasure to own.
Now if they can only invent a bike that cleans itself, The old girl is really filthy after this trip

Considering the current water restrictions you'll have to ride it through an automatic car wash.
Remember to put your wet weather gear on and pull your visor down.
rodsprint where did you go and what did you see?

Steve full lap of the map, up the east coast to Townsville then cut across to Mt Isa and the three ways, then up to darwin across to Broome,Perth,Albany,Esperance,Nullabor,Port Lincoln,Mt Gambier, and finished with the great ocean rd.
No sightseeing in 35 days you dont have time, but gives you a great feel for the changing landscape and makes you realize just how big this country is

G'day Rodsprint.
Some mates of mine did the same trip from Sydney this time last year - one of them on a 1986 BMW K100rs. It used 0.25 liters of oil.. The bike has now done aprox 250,000 klm on the same engine, never been pulled down.
How'd you go with ( oooops - not a thread ) tires, oils, chain, sprockets, anything else ??

Harrya
Serviced the bike before i left and new tyres, Dunlop roadsmarts,
I replaced the dunlops in Darwin, iwould say they were 80% worn with Michelin roads, these got me home, just.
While in Darwin i gave the bike an oil change, the only one for the trip, the only other maintenance was a change of rear brake pads in Adelaide.
I should add that the chain was lubricated every couple of days, and at the end of any day we rode in rain, the chain never needed any adjustment and sprockets are not showing any wear
I dont think you could ask for a better run.

Hey Rod..
If I ever do that trip on my 02 I hope for the same outcome.. Trust your pillion took lots of pics and some video. Some of the scenery is breathtaking..
Guess we'll wait for the movie to come out..

Harrya we did take just a couple of hundred photos,
The hardest thing about a trip like this is making the decision to do it, so if you can ever get the chance grab it.
It was bloody hard work at times but still the best trip i have ever done on two wheels.
Of course using a triumph almost makes it cheating.

Congratulations on your return. That looks like about an average of 550km each day for 31 days. Thats a very good effort particularly with a pillion, she must like you a lot. When you have cooled down, and washed the bike, it would be good to see a bit of a break up of your trip over the various days, ie distance, where stopped, highlights for that day etc.
Cheers, Simmo

Simmo my pillion is my wife and yeah shes as mad as i am, we lived on pain killers for the first week.
I did keep a diary, but as you can tell by my short replies i am a crap typist, however when i get caught up a little i will try to give a short version of events if anyone is interested.
I might even have a punt at including some photos.
