Model Year Differences for ST

Hi,

I would like to know the differences between model years on the Sprint STs, for instance the colors available for a particular year model and improvements and changes for that year.

I'm sure it's out there somewhere either on this site or some other; however, I have not found it.

Of particular interest to me is the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Model Years. I like the three pipes under the seat.

I don't own a Sprint ST, yet.

Not sure about the colour options, but the changes that I am aware of are:

2007+
Different seat
Larger aperture in fairing panels next to engine to aid air flow
(Think it was this year) Foam baffles inside fairing to reduce heat onto legs
Higher handlebars
Higher screen height
Came with panniers

Think changes for 2006 were also the handlebars.

07,
plus they did something to the brake pistons to stop them sticking,
& something to the mapping to make it start easier. (These 2 mods work).

08
steel fuel tank (so you can use a magnetic tank bag),
slightly better dipped headlights (still useless), I've fitted HID lights,
different rubber compound on the rider's footpegs ,
& dropped the ultra fast Caspian blue!

2005 ---> Caspian Blue and Silver
2006 ---> Caspian Blue, Silver and (my choice) Sunset Red!
2007 ---> not too sure, but I know Tomato Red and Black
2008 ---> Graphite and Pacific Blue

I believe 05 and 06 are pretty much identical. The foam heat baffles someone talked of where a 'goodwill' warranty addition to the 06 if you requested it. Also, in 06, a 'goodwill' gesture was offered to increase to master cylinder size from 14mm to 5/8 inch if you requested. 05 and 06's had know problems with bubbling paint on the windscreens.

In 07, the ECM was upgraded to a stronger computer and thus able to take care of sluggish starting on the 05-06 models. Plus, a little better fuel economy. Also, in 07 onward was the bigger side vents, a little taller screen (which is the screen that the 05-06's get in warranty) and higher bars. I believe 07 onwards also had the panniers as standard equipment versus late in 06 being a buying incentive offered special.

08 I don't think any changes happened from 07.

I could be wrong on all, but I think that covers most of it!
ALL of them are great all-around bikes!

The 07 model (and 06 also, I think) has better heat protection than the 05, with more insulation under the seat. The panniers were improved too, with better weather-proofing.

I was just going to post something about my windscreen bubbling around the "tinted" areas on it. I assume Triumph is replacing these under warranty?

ADG --- yep, that is what is supposed to happen according to others here. Mine has bubbled also, but I've yet to claim it at the dealer.

They replaced mine on my 07 a couple of weeks ago under warranty. The old one was clear and I got a tinted one in its place.. WUHU (Homer Simpson style)
