Risers

Wasn't there a part number for the Triumph Risers for pre-'07? Anyone recall how they compared to the GenMar's? Any other options that folks have been happy with?

From what I've seen, the GenMar look to be an easy swap without having to mess with new lines or cables. Not to mention, it seems reasonably priced.

I've been entertaining the idea of making the Sprint a bit more relaxed for commuting duties.

Genmars, cheaper, faster, easier, and removable.

Talking Gen Mars

I put the Gen-Mar risers on my 01 ST and couldn't be happier!!! It cost somewhere around $100 for the kit and took about 15 minutes to install. My decision to raise the controls came after a long trip on the highway. The following day my back was killing me. Riding in the in the new position, however, I've yet to experience any discomfort. To get an idea of how you'd be sittingwith the Gen-Mars, make your hands into fists. Rest your fists on top of the grips as if you were grabbing imaginary controls. This is approximately how high your hands will be after installing the Gen-Mars. As far as looks are concerned, there is hardly a difference in the appearance of the bike. A few of my buddies didn't even notice I had them on. They are milled perfectly to look as if they came with the bike.
Hope this helps.

Sorry, I guess I meant the risers Triumph offered prior to the 07 body style changes. If I recall correctly (and I might very well not be), they were similiar design as the GenMar, offering an easy install...without having to swap the entire "bars". Really curious, if they still exist, how they differ in price to the GenMars.

Also, after another search, I found another option that I had missed previously: LSL Risers. However, I'm not sure I'm all for the handlebar look on the Sprint.

In any case, I'm guessing that GenMars are the way to go, eh?

I don't recall ever seeing actual Triumph branded risers. We have always talked about the Genmar's or the LSL's. The only thing from Triumph is and has been (as far as I recall) the direct bar swap. Even the LSL's aren't risers as they replace the bars. Your best and only bet for simplicity of install is the Genmar's. So just do it.

I fitted GenMars to my 2001 in about 20 mins .Possibly cos I think it had had them before as they fitted so easily. ! No control cables to alter/replace either. ! I am well pleased with the result. Very comfortable. No more stiff neck. Better control. Better visibility due to being a bit higher up. Plus I picked them up, second hand, from USA & got them for less than 1/2 UK retail including postage. Yes. Very pleased indeed.

I just recently installed the GenMar risers on my 2006 and ran into a little difficulty. The clutch side went on fine, albeit the cables were a little tight. The throttle side went on, but just barely, after unstrapping all the cable ties or clips holding the brake line to the forks. The taut brake line worried me a bit, so I rerouted it on the right side of the forks, giving it an extra inch of slack. It was so tight, it would make a creaking sound where it rubbed the fork when I turned the bars. I had to bleed the front brake, but it was well worth it in the end.

I'm not sure if anyone else has had similar problems or if my bike is just odd. (Or I did something wrong.)

When I said my cables ect were ok, I did find that the front brake hydraulic line was a little tight. No free length. Reminds me I must look at it. I think I have rerouted all I can without dis-connecting the line.
What I need to know is--- If its nil free play with the bike on the centre stand, does it get tighter. Is there more downward movement to come as the weight comes off on a ripple. ?
