HID lights chapter two and a call for help!
Hey everyone, so my HIDs came in and as I suspected the D2S AMP plugs do not fit into the rubber boots. I spent hours trying to make it work, ultimately had a silicon hose coupling from a turbocharger acting as a boot extender, but the rubber boots still didn't stick and on the left side it can't be deeper than stock because of the coolant bottle.

So, I'm going to get some re-based HIDs (bleah) but still better than incandescent. But now that I've totally hosed up my rubber boots from the headlights, I need a new pair. Anyone have a set they'd be willing to sell? How can I find some quickly without having to order them from the UK? Parts are so slow to come, I want to do whatever I can to get this back on the road.

Thanks in advance!

If you order through your dealer they will more than likely come from Atlanta. I have yet to order anything that took over a week, much less had to come from the UK.

If you order from Bikebandit, you can figure they will take several weeks longer than the dealer.

You might find one on ebay, but I suspect the odds are not in your favor.

Is there no way to repair the old ones?

Being an old guy, and not up on all this high tech stuff, I usually measure twice, then cut once. I don't know how that would work in this high tech world.

Yep - can't call dealer til tomorrow so I'm hedging.

As far as measuring and all that first - did that, but the shape of the rubber piece just didn't lend itself well to the D2S plug. The extensions I built work great - on the right side, of course I made the really bad assumption that the left side had a similar amount of clearance. DOH! bad bad Peet.

The current ones can be hacked together short term, so a week won't keep me on the blocks, but I would love to nip this and move on.
