Smile My new bike - 1st thoughts...

What can I say? I love it to bits!

It's just had its 500 mile service and is running in nicely. I've got some long weekend trips and a track day booked for this summer which I'm really looking forward to.

Any gripes? A couple of minor points and they're both exhaust related:

- Boy, do those pipes chuck some heat out?! Well worth it though - I think the underseat arrangement gives the Sprint the best looking butt on the road

- I think the stock silencer is a little muted so I've splashed out on one of these today - http://www.trident-exhausts.com/page...nt-st-1050.php . I'll let you know what it sounds like when I've got it fitted.

Cheers
Kav

Awesome! I'm hoping to pick up a Pac Blue ABS very soon. Is the seat hot from the exhaust, or what is it you mean?

Hi mate - you'll love it

Not through the seat so much as hot air circulating around the backs of your thighs and calves. Not an issue over 30-ish as there's plenty of airflow.

I don't want to overstate this though - I wouldn't change her for anything.

Cheers

I love my '08 Pacific Blue ABS. Have about 560km on her and can't wipe the smile of my face.

I find that the exhaust does get a bit warm but it is not constant heat. It seems to come and go. It never gets uncomfortable though....

Even my Ninja 250 gets some very hot air rising from it sitting in traffic!

Re:Tridents

Good evening Moonraker,
Glad you like the ST.The Tridents will liberate the engine plus the sound is out of this world. They also remove the underseat heat.
You didn't mention the off-road tune. You'll need to have this downloaded by a dealer.

Heat

Hi Moonraker,
although I ride a 955 Sprint I feel compelled to say the heat issue is common on a number of modern bikes especially those with underseat exhausts.

The R1 is particularly bad at throwing heat out on your leg from it's fan and my last Gixxer was bad in heavy traffic with the fan throwing heat onto your leg.

So although heat under the seat etc is not a good thing it is also not un common among modern motorcycles.

Thanks mate

Peter at Trident tells me that you're better off running with the new map in any case. I gather the OEM map was compromised to meet EU emission rules and the new one improves things no end.

Cheers

Heat shield on its way

I just purchased a 2008 Pacific Blue Sprint with the standard bun warmers. On hot days it gets quite toasty. I ordered some additional heat shielding from JC Whitney. It should be here in a few days. I will let you know how it works out for me.

The off-road tune on it's is own(w/out Tridents) is a big improvement over the OEM tune. The motor runs much better at low rpms.
