New seat for 2005 Sprint

I have a 2005 Sprint and the seat is a pain to take off and get back on. Also, it is not that comfortable but that is not the main reason I want to change it. I have a small tail back that I like using but I have to remove the seat to put it on. Is there another option I have for seats that would make it more convenient to remove the seat?

So you just ride around with an unbolted seat? Isn't there a chance that it would slide if you are cornering?

I've heard that ric depends on centrifugal force to keep him and his seat planted.

I’ve been riding for 37 years. I’ve had numerous bikes with seats that hinge-open or unlock with a key and pop off. All of these seats give you trouble somewhere down the road.

If you have the seat rebuilt or replace it with an after market seat, they (after a few years and miles) never fit correctly and rattle around a bit. On some hinge type seats, you can’t swing them open with panniers attached.

This said, I like the Sprint seat. When it’s installed, it don’t move. I find it easy to remove. I believe it’s the most comfortable factory seat that I’ve ever had on a bike.

On a side note, when I was fiddling around with exhausts, I left the rear bolts out of the seat and rode the Sprint around for a couple of weeks. No issues.

I recommend the Triumph tail pack. The mount stays on the seat, and you just unzip it to don or doff the bag.

I still run the stock seat. Use one bolt, not a big deal. I added a beaded seat cover from Whitehorse Gear about a year ago and that has seemed to help a lot.

Bottom line (so to speak), I have to complain about something, and if I replaced the seat I would have nothing left to complain about.

The downside to running without the two bolts is that they also hold the rear plastics in place. I know there's two bolt at the front but that's all otherwise.

What WardenRoss said

WardenRoss,
has pretty much nailed this.

I also have had many bikes only over 32 years of riding and totally agree with WR.

Many other brands also use seat bolts it is not anything unusual, some are a bit fiddly but you get used to it.

I am fortunate, I think in that my 2004 Sprint ST has the older style (for Sprints) of key type seat removal, but bolts are no biggie once you are used to them.

.... if you are going to fit the seat without the screws - put the screws in before you fit the seat back on - as they are necessary to hold the rear plastics in place.

Personally I use the screws to hold the seat in place - practice has made perfect

Velcro

I put the bolts in place to hold the plastic then i glued 2'' wide velcro to the frame at the rear of the seat base ditto on the seat itself stapling it to the seat base is best, push the seat forward into the locking lip and then push it down all fixed.
