Low mpg

Hi adg,
If I was you I would ask the dealer to reload the engine tune or download the off-road tune. This improves the engine at low revs and might also help with the low mpg/stalling issues.
Just a thought.

.... now that is normal!

I went back for my 1 st service a couple of years ago convinced that my gearbox needed a new bearing.
It sounds and feels rough when its idling with the clutch out but stops almost instantly when you pull the clutch in.
The tech can explain it to you - but it is due to straight cut gears (rather than helical cut) in the gearbox.Sounds awful but perfectly normal.

Your initial quality score ( D ), is vastly unfair.

You bought a bike that was totally stored for over 2 years and because your dealer didn't take care of it you complain about it?

Don't blame the bike, blame your dealer - or blame yourself for buying a stored bike that was never properly maintained.

You get what you pay for my friend, and you got a 6000 dollar sprint... running badly and not serviced correctly.

If you had paid for a new bike that was taken care of your scores would've been much higher across the whole board.

Overall I think you were biased against the bike in this review because of all your UNIQUE problems.

I hope your bike's issues get ironed out, but your review wasn't really necessary as we all own our own Sprint's and could easily do our own reviews, I'm sure they'd be much more positive.

I've owned TWO Triumph Sprint ST's and both have been excellent bikes, my first only had the soft brake issue but thats it, everything else was flawless.

Although we appreciate your thoughts about your own bike, keep in mind that your problems are NOT the norm for this model.

Hey Kory,

The whole point of a review is to give someone's opinion. You don't have to agree with it, but I agree with everything I said.

I am *assuming* that my problems are from either being stored incorrectly or the dealer missing things during prep. However, I have had some bad initial quality issues, thus why it got a D. I am sorry that you don't agree with it, however I agree with my rating.

Furthermore, I am not complaining, I am merely sharing my experience with the forum. I don't know why you are getting defensive over what is generally a good review of my bike, although it just lacked in one category. If you notice, it's called "initial" quality, as in I think that overal quality will be much better once these little gremlins get sorted out.

And I don't know why you feel that my review wasn't necessary. I am a member of this forum, sharing my experience. It seems that many people on here don't fully understand what a forum is - it's where people come to share their experiences. Instead of getting upset, the easiest thing to do is just not read something if you feel it isn't necessary.

P.S. - I didn't pay $6,000 for my Sprint, that was another poster in here who bought one used. Mine was brand new and $3,000 more than that.

My point is, if everyone did a "review" of their own bike the forum would be full of nothing but everyones own reviews of their own bike, and then everyone wouldn't care about each others reviews because there would be too many opinions.

While your review is entertaining to read and chuckle through, I found it unnecessary, as real reviews come from real reviewers, like Motorcyclist and CycleMag, people that actually have some authority and knowledge to review a motorcycle.

I appreciate your time posting but would feel your opinions would be more warranted if, lets say, your name was Brian Catterson ( Chief Editor of Motorcyclist Magazine ) then I would value your opinions about your "Lemon" bike.

In the end I still feel you got a bad deal on your Sprint and pity you for the frustrations you've been through, but to review an entire bike based on the problems that occurred from the dealers irresponsibility is just unfair.

I love you man Hope your bike's kinks iron out and hope you're riding 100's of miles ASAP!

This whole forum, and every forum, is full of opinions.

Sure, but it doesn't hurt to read a real owners review, either. I do a fair share of automotive reviews, so it's just in my nature to review things.

I don't know why you think I have a lemon bike, I have never mentioned that. Overall the review was great aside from the initial quality issues I'm having.

We are assuming again here that this is all the dealer's fault. I don't have any proof that is what caused these issues. I think I got a fair deal on my bike, as I paid what the dealer paid for it, and it was brand new with 0 miles and has a full two year warranty.

Also, the entire review wasn't at all just of the issues my bike is having. If anything, the review focuses more on all the great things about the bike, or did you just read the one paragraph about initial quality?

I hope so too, and I look forward to everything getting ironed out on Tuesday when it goes in for service. I also do appreciate your input on how you have had two Sprint STs without any quality issues.
