Obscure question - abs and plug
My 2008 does not have an ABS sticker on the fairing. Is this common now? I just now noticed after two weeks with her. LOL.
There is a light in the dash, a ring on the front brake for the ABS sensor and of course the bill of sale says ABS - but short of slammin it, any way to be sure it's in there?
Second, there is a big plug in the storage compartment that goes to nothing. Is this the hookup to the ECU? Or does it have some other accessory option?
Thanks all.

An easy way to tell if you have ABS or not is to look at your brake rotors. The ABS system has a disk that is about 5'' in diameter mounted to the left front brake rotor with several small slots all the way around it. There is also a wire that runs down the left fork leg to the pick up for the ABS sensor. Bikes without ABS will not have that disk or wire on the left fork leg.
A way to test if you have ABS is try to lock up the back wheel in a skid. You have to be going faster than 6 mph for the ABS system to work. Just get going 10 -15 mph and step hard on the back brake. If you have ABS you will feel the pedal pulsate and the wheel will not lock up or skid.
The connector is to pug your bike into a computer to get trouble codes or change the bike air/fuel and timing settings

You can see the ring and wired sensor at each wheel. It's a bit more difficult to see the ABS control/pump module. You can see that it is there and working by monitoring the power on self test:
You should have an ABS (fault) light on after startup.
The ABS (fault) light should go out once the bike is moving ~5mph or better.
The test described above should help you avoid the "brake slam on ice" test.

First off, SLAM On the brakes and give the ABS a test - you need to know what it feels like.
Do this on dry, straight pavement. The rear will ABS easily, and it's not that hard to do the front either

Hi there,
no sticker on my 08, although it was purchased in Canada it absolutely has ABS. No choice here, ABS only this year. I did shop around in the US for a 08and it was quoted as an ($800.00) option, same as 07 in Canada. Last year the ABS model had the lettering, non ABS did not.

Don't mean to hijack but getting the rear ABS to work and feel it, is easy. However the last track day I did I was real heavy on the brakes and if the front ABS was working or not I'm not sure. How obvious is it. I felt vibrations through the bars but it could have been the track surface.
Cheers

All the 08 ABS bikes that have arrived in Greece have no sticker.
I was the first to get one so I was puzzled too. After seeing the rest though i figured that T has scrapped the sticker for the 08 model.

When I purchased my '08, both the dealer and I noticed that the ABS sticker was not there. We both panicked since I ordered/paid for the ABS version.
However, once we started poking around, we did notice taht the bike did have the rings with slots as well as the ABS idiot light that goes off after going 5mph or so....

It's pretty obvious. Just take'r out on the road and give it a try today. You can't miss it.
