02-04 Triumph Gel Seat

'Morning folks, I know that this topic has been canvassed regularly in the past but I cannot find an answer to these questions when I 'search':
1: At roughly what temperature does the notorious 'hot bum syndrome' really kick off? For example, is the seat OK in the sun when it's mid-20sC but becomes a burner at 29C?
2: At the other end of the temperature spectrum, are there any low temperature problems, does the gel freeze?

I've just picked up a second-hander and the two things I've noticed so far are; (a) It's much heavier than the stock seat, I assume because of a denser foam plus the gel; and (b) It's much firmer.

I have one on my '04 955 Sprint ST.
1) pretty much what you said.
2) I have been in -5 at Armidale, it had frost on it but was not frozen. Heat is more of an issue. In hot weather I cover mine with a small towell or my jacket.

Comfort;
This is subjective as some hate them and some love them. My wife and I love ours, I sold my stock seat to Harry13 a couple of years ago.

Yes it is more firm and this is a lot better than the soft stocker IMHO.

Two Triples are better than one :)

Thanks Dave

That's all good news.

Now I have to test it out on a decent run with the pillion, funnily enough, probably through Armidale in the next week or so.

I agree with Dave. I've found the Gel seat a lot more comfortable than the stock seat.

For short trips, there isn't a lot of difference between the two, but on longer trips, the Gel seat really does make the ride more enjoyable.
