This is very said. I remember when he was the rising star kid with the weird hair. His talent was boundless it seemed. Saw him race only once at Loudon in New Hampshire, I think it was a Super Bike series. Motorcycle racing is dangerous, riding a bicycle should not be. God Speed Nicky Hayden.
Geeze, so many 'famous' people the last two years.
Hayden (and his two brothers) were/are riders I really enjoy following and routing for. What a silly random thing to have taken a life. Typing on an text forum, to imaginary people just seems stupid when compared to an actual human life... But seeing & reading this thread makes me sad for someone that I never even met... Well, at least he lived a life 99.9% of people can only dream of living for even 15 minutes... He did it for 30-something years. Congratulations, Nicky, on living life better than most. I wish the rest of your family comfort during this sad time. # *69
I'm leaving my 2002 Joe-Rocket black "69" racing jacket in my closet to stay as preserved as it can.
Been following the news about Nicky since it broke last week. Everyday hoping for news of improvement. Absolutely gut wrenching.
Nicky more than any other racer is the one I hoped would win, and felt the loss every time he didn't. He always seemed happy and upbeat even after he had a bad day.
He's my wife's favorite racer and she will be heartbroken when I have to tell her later.
The sport, and the world lost a Great person today.
Dang. Years of risky racing and killed on a dammed bicycle by a car.
